Why is there a price increase for DataTravel APAC 1GB and 2GB?

Due to the increase in cost from our roaming partners, there is a need to increase the pricing for our DataTravel 1GB and 2GB. There is no change in the pricing for DataTravel 3GB.

Are there plans to increase other DataTravel packs?

For now, there are no plans for price increase. We will continuously review and ensure we offer the best price possible for our customers.

What is DataTravel?

DataTravel is a non-recurring (does not auto-renew) roaming data plan that consists of DataTravel Asia-Pacific, DataTravel Global and DataTravel Everywhere. 


DataTravel is a roaming data plan which consists of DataTravel Asia-Pacific, DataTravel Global and DataTravel Everywhere. 

(a) DataTravel Asia-Pacific offers:

(i) 1GB for $6 valid for 3 days,

(ii) 2GB for $16 valid for 30 days,

(iii) 3GB for $20 valid for 30 days,

upon purchase.


DataTravel Asia-Pacific is applicable in 19 supported destinations:
Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam.


(b) DataTravel Global offers:

(i) 2GB for $40,

(ii) 3GB for $50,

both valid for 30 days upon purchase.


DataTravel Global is applicable in 81 supported destinations:
Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei,  Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam.

DataTravel Asia- Pacific Plan, DataTravel Global Plan and DataTravel Everywhere Plan are offered for a certain period or periods as may be prescribed by StarHub from time to time, and are limited to supported destinations only as listed at www.starhub.com/datatravel.

How do I purchase and activate the DataTravel plan?

Step 1: Ensure that you are subscribed to International Roaming (IR) or Pay-As-You-Roam (PAYR) service.

For more details on IR/PAYR activation, visit starhub.com/roaming.


Step 2: Activate DataTravel plan via either one of the following options:

Option 1:

Log in to StarHub App on your mobile device.

Select the correct mobile number to activate DataTravel.

On top of page, select Roaming.

Scroll down to Roaming add-ons.

Choose a DataTravel plan of your choice.

Click Confirm to activate our selected DataTravel service.

Option 2:

SMS DT1 to 78989 for DataTravel Asia-Pacific 1GB at $6 for 3 days

SMS DT2 to 78989 for DataTravel Asia-Pacific 2GB at $16 for 30 days

SMS DT3 to 78989 for DataTravel Asia-Pacific 3GB at $20 for 30 days

SMS DTG2 to 78989 for DataTravel Global 2GB at $40 for 30 days

SMS DTG3 to 78989 for DataTravel Global 3GB at $50 for 30 days

SMS DTE1 to 78989 for DataTravel Everywhere at $80 for 30 days

Option 3:
Dial *100# and select option 5 to purchase the respective DataTravel plan.

An SMS will be sent to you to inform you whether the service request has been successfully processed.

For business customers, please log in to My Business Account with your Enterprise ID or email using your company domain or scan copy of authorized letter of request to businesshelpdesk@starhub.com to activate DataTravel plan.

For SharePlus dependent line(s), please get the main line to purchase the DataTravel plan on your behalf via StarHub App or dial *100# (Option 5).

Step 3: Ensure that Data Roaming and Mobile Data are enabled. Once done, you are ready to use the DataTravel plan.

What is the difference between DataTravel Asia-Pacific, DataTravel Global and DataTravel Everywhere?

DataTravel Asia-Pacific is supported in 20 selected destinations.


DataTravel Global is supported in 81 selected destinations; including the 20 selected destinations supported under DataTravel Asia-Pacific. DataTravel Asia-Pacific and DataTravel Global are to be purchased separately.


DataTravel Everywhere is supported in 195 selected destinations; including 20 selected destinations supported under DataTravel Asia-Pacific, DataTravel Global and DataTravel Unlimited.

Who can purchase the DataTravel plan?

All StarHub Mobile postpaid customers, including customers under Corporate Incentive Scheme (CIS) and business customers who are subscribed to either International Roaming or Pay-As-You-Roam are eligible for DataTravel plan.

Do I need to activate any roaming service to subscribe to DataTravel?

Yes, you need to subscribe to International Roaming or Pay-As-You-Roam service before you can purchase DataTravel. For more details, visit www.starhub.com/roaming. For business customers, please visit www.starhub.com/bizroaming.

Can I purchase the DataTravel plan while I am also subscribed to RoamEasy Daily?

Yes, you can. When travelling to DataTravel supported destinations, the data usage will first be offset from the DataTravel plan till it is fully utilized or expired. Once DataTravel plan is fully utilized or expired, the data usage will be charged at RoamEasy Daily data roam rate if you have opt-in for RoamEasy Daily. 20% surcharge apply for Pay-As-You-Roam customers.

I have purchased the DataTravel plan, how would the data be consumed when roaming in DataTravel Unlimited’s supported destinations?

The data usage will first be offset from DataTravel plan till it is fully utilized or expired. Once DataTravel plan is fully utilized or expired, the data usage will be charged at DataTravel Unlimited data roam rate. 20% surcharge apply for Pay-As-You-Roam customers.

What happens to the unused data in my DataTravel plan if I did not manage to fully utilise it within the validity period?

Any unused data will be forfeited after the validity period.

I have unused data in my DataTravel plan and have purchased another DataTravel plan, can the unused data be accumulated?

Yes, the expiry of the remaining data will be extended by the bundle validity of the newly purchased DataTravel plan. The validity can be extended up to a maximum of 30 days for each DataTravel plan.

Can I extend my DataTravel validity if I have purchased additional DataTravel plan?

Yes, the expiry of the remaining data will be extended by the bundle validity of the newly purchased DataTravel plan. The validity can be extended up to a maximum of 30 days for each DataTravel plan.

Scenario 1: Top-up by purchasing a 30-day DataTravel plan
For example, if the current expiry date of your DataTravel Asia-Pacific bundle is 10 July 2018, and a new DataTravel Asia-Pacific 2GB (30 days) plan is purchased on 1 July 2018, then the new expiry date will be 31 July 2018.

Scenario 2: Top-up by purchasing a 3-day DataTravel plan
For example, if the current expiry date of your DataTravel Asia-Pacific bundle is 10 July 2018, and a new DataTravel Asia-Pacific 1GB (3 days) plan is purchased on 1 July 2018, then the new expiry date will be on 13 July 2018.

Is there a limit or cap on how much data I can accumulate?

Yes, the limit for the accumulated data roam bundle for each DataTravel plan is capped at 100GB.

Can I still purchase another DataTravel plan if my accumulated data roam bundle has reached 100GB?

Yes, you can still purchase another DataTravel plan within the validity period. The accumulated data roam bundle will be capped at 100GB for each DataTravel plan (i.e. Asia-Pacific and Global), while the expiry will be extended by the bundle validity of the newly purchased DataTravel plan, up to a maximum of 30 days.

For example, if the current expiry date of your DataTravel Asia-Pacific plan is 10 July 2018 and current accumulated data roam bundle is 100GB, when a new DataTravel Asia-Pacific 2GB (30 days) plan is purchased on 1 July 2018, the new expiry date will be 31 July 2018, while the new accumulated data roam bundle will still be 100GB.

Can I purchase DataTravel now but only start the validity at a later date, at the day/time of travel?

The validity of DataTravel plan will start from the date/time of successful purchase. You can choose to activate DataTravel plan instantly or schedule from 24 hours to 30 days in advance.

When will the DataTravel Asia-Pacific plan expire if I have purchased a DataTravel Asia-Pacific 2GB (30 days) plan on 1 July 2018 and another DataTravel Asia-Pacific 3GB plan (30 days) on 5 July 2018?

Your DataTravel Asia-Pacific bundle expiry will be extended by up to a maximum of 30 days from the date of last purchase. The new expiry of your DataTravel Asia-Pacific plan is on 4 August 2018.

The same behaviour applies for DataTravel Global plan.

Can I purchase a combination of DataTravel Asia-Pacific 2GB and DataTravel Asia-Pacific 3GB?

Yes, you can purchase a combination of DataTravel Asia-Pacific 2GB plan and DataTravel Asia-Pacific 3GB plan and the total data bundle will be added together. Similarly, you can purchase a combination of DataTravel Global 2GB and DataTravel Global 3GB.

Can I purchase a combination of DataTravel Asia-Pacific, DataTravel Global and Data Travel Everywhere?

Yes, you can purchase DataTravel Asia-Pacifc plan, DataTravel Global plan and DataTravel Everywhere at the same time. However, the total data bundle does not add up together. In the same supported countries, data usage will first be offset from DataTravel Asia-Pacific 2GB plan until it is fully utilized or expired. Once DataTravel Asia-Pacific plan is fully utilized or expired, the data usage will offset from the DataTravel Global plan if you are in the same supported country and follow by DataTravel Everywhere.

I have purchased both DataTravel Asia-Pacific and DataTravel Global, how would the data be consumed when roaming in the same supported destinations, for example in Japan?

The data usage will first be offset from DataTravel Asia-Pacific plan until it is fully utilized or expired. Once DataTravel Asia-Pacific plan is fully utilized or expired, the data usage will offset from the DataTravel Global plan if you are still data roaming in the same supported country.

How do I check the balance data or expiry date of my DataTravel plan?

You can check the balance or expiry date via the following:


Option 1:

Log in to StarHub App on your mobile device. Select the correct mobile number to check DataTravel’s balance data or expiry date. On top of page, select Roaming.


Option 2:

SMS Check to 78989 (SMS charges apply)


Option 3:

Dial *100*39#

Will I receive notification on the balance data or expiry date of my DataTravel plan?

You will be notified via SMS:


When the DataTravel balance is left with 500MB and at full utilization. And at 24 hours before expiry, 1 hour before expiry and at point of expiry.

When will I receive the 2nd SMS to inform me about the Inflight Data Roam Rate?

You will receive this SMS after you have received the "DataTravel Purchase Successful" SMS.

What is the 2nd SMS Inflight Data Roam rate about?

This is to inform the user to turn off the data roaming service and avoid unexpected charges when onboard a flight.


2nd SMS notification Example:

<Notification> StarHub: Please note that Inflight Data Roam rate is at $25/day (20% surcharge for PAYR). Kindly switch to "Airplane Mode" when onboard a flight if you do not wish to stay connected. Details at starhub.com/inflight-connectivity.

What will happen after the DataTravel plan has expired or when the data in the DataTravel plan has been fully utilized?

Once the data bundle in your DataTravel plan has been fully utilized or has expired, the data usage will be charged DataTravel Unlimited data roam rate or RoamEasy Daily data roam rate if you have opted in for RoamEasy Daily. 20% surcharge for Pay-As-You-Roam customers. Alternatively, you may wish to purchase another DataTravel Asia-Pacific plan or DataTravel Global plan.

How do I pay for a DataTravel plan?

Upon successful purchase of a DataTravel plan, customers will be charged and it will be reflected in the current month’s bill. There will be no refund of unused, expired data roam bundles from DataTravel.

I have subscribed the Pay-As-You-Roam service, will I incur an additional 20% surcharge for DataTravel?

There is no 20% surcharge for Pay-As-You-Roam customers.

Do I need to terminate my DataTravel if I am not using it?

No, you do not need to terminate the DataTravel plan when not in use. DataTravel plan will expire after the validity period.

I have accidentally purchased a DataTravel plan, can I cancel and get refund for it?

No, unfortunately, you are not able to cancel the purchase.

I purchased a DataTravel plan but have also terminate the International Roaming or Pay-As-You-Roam service. What happened to the unused data under my DataTravel plan?

You will not be able to use the unused data in the DataTravel plan once International Roaming or Pay-As-You-Roam service has been terminated. You can continue to use the unused data upon resuming the International Roaming or Pay-As-You-Roam service within the validity period of your existing DataTravel plan.

Can my Shareplus dependent line utilize the DataTravel data roam bundle that I have purchased under my mobile line?

No, the DataTravel data roam bundle purchase under your mobile line cannot be shared with your Shareplus dependent line. The Shareplus dependent line will need to subscribe its own DataTravel plan separately.

My child is using Shareplus dependent line tied to my mobile subscription, how do I activate DataTravel for my child?

Option 1:
Open StarHub App on your mobile device
Scroll down and tap [Roam Manager]
Ensure that you have selected the correct dependent line. Alternatively, you may change the selected mobile line using [Filter] on the top right-hand corner
Go to [Manage Roaming Services]
Ensure that your dependent line has either [Pay As You Roam] or [International Roaming] turned on
Choose a DataTravel plan of your choice
Press [Submit]

Option 2:
You can dial *100*38# from your mobile and select the child’s mobile line from the menu to subscribe to a DataTravel plan on behalf of the Shareplus dependent line.

An SMS will be sent to you and your dependent line to inform you whether the service request has been successfully processed.

What will happen to the remaining DataTravel balance if I transfer my mobile line to another customer or to another billing account within its validity period?

The remaining DataTravel balance will be forfeited. Customer will need to purchase new DataTravel and will be entitled with new full balance and new expiry date.

Why did I receive an SMS indicating that my data roam service has been auto-enabled when I purchase DataTravel plan?

We have detected that your data roam service has been disabled previously. As you selected DataTravel plan, your data roam service has been enabled to allow you to data roam on the DataTravel plan.

Why am I still unable to surf the Internet even though I am connected to an overseas roaming network?
  1. Ensure data roam service is enabled by dialing *100*54830#.
  2. Check that your device’s data roam setting is turned on.
  3. Check that your device’s APN setting is set as shwap.

How do I set the Access Point Name (APN) on my device?

For iOS users:
1. Ensure that the phone carrier setting is StarHub 27.2 or above.

Why am I unable to activate DataTravel?

If you have an outstanding balance on your bill, you must clear the balance before activating DataTravel. Request for activation is only allowed once the payment is reflected in the system.

Activating DataTravel via StarHub App

Step 1: Log in to StarHub App on your mobile device.

Step 2: Select the correct mobile number to activate DataTravel.

Step 3: On top of page, select Roaming and scroll down to Roaming add-ons.

Step 4: Choose a DataTravel plan of your choice and click Confirm to activate your selected DataTravel service.

How to Schedule DataTravel in advance

What is the scheduling feature for DataTravel Asia-Pacific, DataTravel Global and/or DataTravel Everywhere?

This feature allows you to schedule DataTravel Asia-Pacific, DataTravel Global and/or DataTravel Everywhere; from 24 hours to 30 days in advance.


You can now enjoy the convenience of scheduling DataTravel Asia-Pacific, DataTravel Global and/or Data Travel Everywhere before the day of travel.


Here’s an example: If you are travelling to Japan on 1 Oct 12:00pm. On 15 Sep, you can schedule DataTravel Asia-Pacific 2GB to be effective on 1 Oct 12:00pm. You will receive a confirmation SMS upon successful submission of the scheduling request. On 1 Oct 12:00pm*, your DataTravel will be activated and you will receive another confirmation SMS upon successful activation of the DataTravel plan.

NOTE:

* DataTravel will be activated within 30 minutes before scheduled time. For example, if DataTravel Asia Pacific 2GB Plan is scheduled to be activated on 1 Oct 12.00pm, the plan will be activated between 11.31am to 12.00pm.

You will not be charged immediately for the scheduling of DataTravel Asia-Pacific, DataTravel Global and/or DataTravel Everywhere. You will only be charged upon successful activation on the scheduled date/time. The validity period will start from the date/time that the plan is successfully activated.

You will receive an SMS confirmation from us when DataTravel Asia-Pacific, DataTravel Global and/or DataTravel Everywhere is/are successfully activated on the scheduled date/time.

Yes, you can instantly activate and purchase DataTravel Asia-Pacific and/or DataTravel Global anytime! The validity period of the DataTravel Asia-Pacific and/or DataTravel Global will start from the date/time that the plan is successfully activated.

Can I change the date of my scheduled DataTravel Asia-Pacific/DataTravel Global/ DataTravel Everywhere or cancel my request?

You can cancel a scheduled DataTravel Asia-Pacific/DataTravel Global/ DataTravel Everywhere up to 24 hours before the activation date/time. For example; you’ve requested to schedule DataTravel Asia-Pacific 2GB for activation on 1 October 12:00 p.m. From 30 September 11:59 a.m., you will no longer be able to cancel your DataTravel Asia-Pacific 2GB.


If you wish to change the date of activation, you’ll have to cancel your initial request and schedule a new one. 


Here are the steps to cancel your scheduled DataTravel Asia-Pacific/DataTravel Global/ DataTravel Everywhere:

Step 1: Log in to StarHub App.

Step 2: Tap “Mobile”, select the mobile number, then go to the “Roaming” tab.

Step 3: Scroll to view the DataTravel Asia-Pacific/DataTravel Global/ DataTravel Everywhere you’ve scheduled and tap the trash bin icon.

Step 4: Confirm your request.

I have scheduled DataTravel Asia-Pacific, DataTravel Global/ DataTravel Everywhere and it was successfully activated on the scheduled date/time. However, I do not need it anymore. Can I get a refund?

All DataTravel Asia-Pacific, DataTravel Global/ DataTravel Everywhere that have been successfully activated cannot be refunded.

If I unsubscribed from International Roaming or Pay-As-You-Roam service, what will happen to my request to schedule DataTravel Asia-Pacific, DataTravel Global and/or DataTravel Everywhere?

As you are not subscribed to either International Roaming or Pay-As-You-Roam service, DataTravel Asia-Pacific, DataTravel Global and/or DataTravel Everywhere will not be activated on the scheduled date/time.

If there is a change in mobile line ownership or change in billing account, all scheduling for DataTravel Asia-Pacific, DataTravel Global and/or DataTravel Everywhere will not be activated on the scheduled date/time.

What is DataTravel Unlimited?

DataTravel Unlimited is a data roaming plan which offers StarHub Postpaid mobile customer with unlimited data on a daily rate at $30/day depending on the travelling destinations.

DataTravel Unlimited data roam charges on supported roaming destinations will be capped on a daily basis and will be reset automatically at the end of each day at 23:59 hours, Singapore time. At the start of a new day, a new daily capped data charge will apply at 00:00 hours, Singapore time.

How do I enjoy DataTravel Unlimited?

You need to first subscribe to either International Roaming or Pay-As-You-Roam. Thereafter, you just need to turn on data roaming on your phone setting and get connected automatically.  Please refer to starhub.com/datatravel-unlimited for the full list of destinations and price.

Who can enjoy DataTravel Unlimited?

StarHub Mobile postpaid customers subscribing to either International Roaming or Pay-As-You-Roam service are eligible to enjoy DataTravel Unlimited. A 20% surcharge applies for Pay-As-You-Roam subscribers.

How much will I be charged if my Data Roam usage did not reach the daily usage cap?

You will be charged $0.02 per KB before you reach the daily usage cap.

I have used 10MB in Japan and 10MB in Malaysia on the same day, how much will I be charged?

The daily capped data charges on supported roaming destinations under DataTravel Unlimited are applicable on a per roaming destination basis. For example, if you used data roaming services in Japan and  Malaysia on the same day and incurred 10MB data usage in each destination, you will be billed and charged $30 per day for data roaming in Japan and $30 per day for data roaming in Malaysia.
