What is Smart WiFi MX2? 

Smart WiFi MX2 is our Linksys MX2001 WiFi 6 mesh router with combined bandwidth of up to 3Gbps.

Who can purchase the Smart WiFi MX2?

Customers subscribed to any StarHub broadband plan (i.e. 2Gbps, 1Gbps, 500Mbps, HomeHub+) or StarHub TV+ can purchase the Smart WiFi MX2.

How can I upgrade my current router to Smart WiFi MX2?

If you’re already out of contract, you can renew your StarHub Broadband plan and purchase the Smart WiFi MX2 at $120/unit. Delivery and installation fees will be waived.


If you’re still in contract, you can purchase the Smart WiFi MX2 at $120/unit. This also applies if you’re out of contract and you opt not to renew your plan. If you request for onsite installation, a service fee of $54.50 will apply. The service fee is fixed regardless of the number of routers to be installed.


You can recontract and/or purchase the mesh router at any of these StarHub shops:

  • Plaza Singapura
  • Tampines
  • Nex
  • Jurong Point

Alternatively, you can call 1630 for assistance.

I don’t have a StarHub broadband subscription yet. Can I sign up and get the Smart WiFi MX2 as my router?

Yes. You can sign up for the StarHub Broadband promotion that comes with the Smart WiFi MX2.

Do you provide free installation of the Smart WiFi MX2?

Free installation service is provided when you sign up or recontract your broadband plan. For existing customers who purchase Smart WiFi MX2 without recontracting, the installation service is chargeable at a fee of $54.50. The service fee is fixed regardless of the number of routers to be installed.

Can I purchase additional units of Smart WiFi MX2 after my installation is completed?

Yes, you can purchase additional units of Smart WiFi MX2 at $120/unit at any of these StarHub shops.

How many units of Smart WiFi MX2 do I need for my house?

The number of units needed depends on various factors such as the housing type, size, and usage. To get the best WiFi coverage for your home, more units of Smart WiFi MX2 may be required.

I’m using the Smart WiFi Pro (Linksys MX4200), can I add the Smart WiFi MX2 (Linksys MX2001) into my mesh network?

You can add the Smart WiFi MX2 (Linksys MX2001) into your existing network that consists of Smart WiFi Pro (Linksys MX4200). However, as the highest combined bandwidth for Linksys MX2001 is only 3Gbps while it’s 4.2Gbps for Linksys MX4200, the speed of the devices connected to the MX2001 node may not enjoy the same speed as the devices connected to Linksys MX4200 nodes.

I’m using Google Wifi/Linksys EA7500/EA8100/Nokia Beacon. Can I replace it with the Smart WiFi MX2?

You can replace your existing Google Wifi/Linksys EA7500/EA8100/Nokia Beacon 1 with the Smart WiFi MX2, provided they’re replaced entirely.


When you sign up for a new or recontract your StarHub Broadband plan, installation of the Smart WiFi MX2 is free.


If you’re an existing customer who purchased the Smart WiFi MX2 without recontracting, you may follow the steps below to set up your new router at home.


If You’re Currently Using Google Wifi:

Step 1: Locate the Google Wifi point connected to ONT/VeONT.

Step 2: Unplug the ethernet cable from the Google Wifi point.

Step 3: Plug in the same ethernet cable to the “Internet” port of the Smart WiFi MX2.

Step 4: Download the Linksys app:

a. If you’re using iPhone, search for “Linksys” on App Store and download it.

b. If you’re using Android, search for “Linksys” on Google Play Store and download it.

Step 5: Launch the Linksys app. Tap  “Set up a New WiFi Network” followed by “Whole Home Mesh WiFi (Velop)”. The app will guide you step by step to set it up.

If You’re Currently Using Linksys EA7500/EZ8100:

Step 1: Locate the Linksys EA7500/EA8100 cable connected to the ONT.

Step 2: Unplug the ethernet cable from the “Internet” port of the Linksys EA7500/EA8100:

Step 3: Plug in the same ethernet cable to the “Internet” port of the Smart WiFi MX2.

Step 2: Unplug the ethernet cable from the “WAN” port of the Nokia Beacon 1:

I encountered a problem installing my Smart WiFi MX2 at home. What should I do to resolve it?

Please go through the following steps to troubleshoot:


Step 1: Check that the connection is set up like the image below:

Step 2: Check if the power cord is plugged in properly and turned on.

Step 3: Check that the LED on the Smart WiFi MX2 is a steady blue colour. Otherwise, press and hold the reset button at the bottom of the unit for 10 seconds to reset it.  It may take several minutes for the LED to purple.

Step 4: Once the LED is flashing continuously in purple, launch the Linksys app to set up again.

How can I install my additional Smart WiFi MX2 myself?

Follow the steps below to install your additional Smart WiFi MX2 units.


Step 1: Position the additional Smart WiFi MX2 at a desired location in your home and connect it to the power outlet.

Step 2: Power on the unit. The LED will be blinking purple when it’s ready to set up.

Step 3: Launch the Linksys app. Go to the  menu on  the top-left corner of the app and select “Set up a new product”, followed by “Add Another Node to <network name>”. The app will guide you through the installation step by step.

Can any other Linksys WiFi6 mesh routers with Intelligent Mesh Technology be added to my mesh WiFi network consisting of Smart WiFi MX2?

Other Linksys WiFi6 mesh routers can be added. However, StarHub will not cover the warranty and technical support for routers from third-party vendors and sources.

How to setup Smart WiFi MX2 with StarHub TV+ box?

Here are the steps to connecting your Smart WiFi MX2 to your StartHub TV+ set-top box.


Step 1. Check that the connection is set up like the image below:

Step 2. Connect one end of the ethernet cable to the Smart WiFi MX2, then the other end to your set-top box. You can also connect via WiFi later.

Step 3. Turn on the TV+ set-top box and the TV, and select the corresponding HDMI output 1/2/3 depending on the port you used.

Note: Please use the HDMI cable provided with your set-top box.

Step 4. Your connection should look like this for you to watch free-to-air or cross-carriage channels*.

*Note: To enjoy free-to-air channels, you’ll need to have StarHub Broadband service and a Smart WiFi, Smart WiFi MX2, Smart WiFi Pro, or Linksys EA7500/EA8100 router.

Step 5. On the TV screen, follow the instructions to continue setting up the TV+ set-top box. You may also refer to How to Set Up Your StarHub TV+ Box for other information.

Do I need to reconfigure (i.e. create account, add node, etc) my Smart WiFi MX2 after relocation?

You don’t need to reconfigure your account. However, you’ll need to reposition all the Smart WiFi MX2 units at the desired locations before powering up all your Smart WiFi MX2 units. Please ensure that the unit originally connected to the ONT/VeONT in the old address is the same unit that is reconnected to the ONT/VeONT in the new address.

How can I have my faulty Smart WiFi MX2 replaced?

If the device is faulty (not turning on or the SSID is not being broadcast), you can contact our Hub Consultants at 1633 to request for a replacement unit if your Smart WiFi MX2 is within the warranty period. However, our Hub Consultant may run through some troubleshooting steps if you’re uncertain if the device is faulty. This is to check if the issue is with the router, ONT, or TP.


In the event the delivery of a replacement unit is arranged, our HubTrooper will deliver the replacement unit to your residential address registered under your StarHub Broadband service. A delivery fee of $13.08 applies.

I have a Google Wifi/Nokia B1/Nokia B2 router network, and one of my units is faulty. Can I replace the faulty unit with Smart WiFi MX2?

No, Google Wifi/Nokia B1/Nokia B2 will not be compatible with Smart WiFi MX2. Hence, it’s not possible to replace the faulty unit with Smart WiFi MX2. 




Device Warranty

What is the warranty period for the Smart WiFi MX2?

Your Smart WiFi MX2 is covered under 2 years limited warranty from the date of issuance.

What is covered under the limited warranty of Smart WiFi MX2?

You can exchange your device under the limited warranty if it has the following defects:

  • The router is not turning on.
  • The Single Service Identification (SSID) is not being broadcast while the device is switched on.

If I terminate my StarHub broadband service, will the warranty for my Smart WiFi MX2 still be valid?

Terminating your StarHub broadband service will void the warranty coverage of your Smart WiFi MX2.

If I transfer my Smart WiFi MX2 to my friend, will the warranty still be valid?

Our StarHub technical helpdesk will verify the authenticity of the device and will only be able to perform 1-to-1 replacement at the registered address of the StarHub broadband subscriber.


Please note that the warranty will lapse if you cease your subscription to the StarHub Broadband service for any reason, or if the device is disconnected from your StarHub Broadband service at the time of claim.

Do you support warranty replacement of Smart WiFi MX2 purchased outside of Singapore?

We only support troubleshooting and warranty for Smart WiFi MX2 purchased from StarHub.
