Test your WiFi speed with Speedtest by Ookla
(Speedtest.net for desktop or Speedtest by Ookla app for Android and iOS users)
To check your home broadband speed, you can use Speedtest by Ookla. It is easy to use and available on www.speedtest.net for computers or you can download the application for free from Google Play for Android users or from App Store for iOS users. With Speedtest by Ookla, you’ll be able to check the download and upload speed of your WiFi.
1. Speedtest.net (desktop version)
1.1. Just type in speedtest.net in your browser. It is compatible with all web browsers.
1.2. If you are on WiFi connection, choose “StarHub Mobile Pte Ltd” as your server to ensure that you are testing your StarHub broadband speed. Connecting to other servers might result in misleading speed results and lower performance.
1.2.1. Click on “Change Server”
1.2.2. Search for “StarHub Mobile Pte Ltd” and select it by clicking on it
1.2.3. Now that StarHub has been selected as the server, you can proceed to run the speed test
1.3. Click on the “GO” button
(Note: If you are connecting to the internet via LAN cable, it will show the results of your LAN speed. Please ensure that you are connected via WiFi for this speed test to be accurate.)
1.4. Once you’ve clicked “GO”, it will automatically start to run the speed test and measure your WiFi speed
1.5. You can view your results once the speed test is over
Based on this speed test and your past speed tests, you will be able to tell if your WiFi is working fine or if you are facing some issues.
(Pro tip: The more frequent you check your WiFi speed, the better the insight and conclusion you will get regarding the ‘health’ of your home broadband.]
1.6. You should repeat steps 1.1 to 1.5 in all the rooms in your home to have a better understanding of the dead spots in your house. You should especially consider running this speed test in the rooms and spots where you and your family members use the WiFi the most to play games online, stream videos or just simply surf the internet.

2. Speedtest by Ookla Application (iOS users)
2.1. Search for “Speedtest by Ookla” on App Store and download the application on your iOS device.
2.2. Open the application and choose ‘StarHub Mobile Pte Ltd’ as your server to ensure that you are testing your StarHub broadband speed. Connecting to other servers might result in misleading speed results and lower performance.
2.2.1. Click “CHANGE SERVER”
2.2.2. Search for “StarHub Mobile Pte Ltd” and select it by clicking on it
2.2.3. Now that StarHub has been selected as the server, you can proceed to run the speed test
2.3. Click on the “GO” button
[Pro tip: To ensure that you have accurate test results and measurement, make sure your mobile data is turned off on your iOS device before running this test. You can turn your mobile data off from your Settings]
2.4. Once you’ve clicked “GO”, it will automatically start to run the speed test and measure your WiFi speed
2.5. You can view your results once the speed test is over
