What is Cloud Recording?
Cloud Recording is a Value-Added Service (VAS) for StarHub TV+ which allows you to record your favourite programmes in the cloud and watch them anytime, anywhere on supported devices.
How much do I have to pay for Cloud Recording VAS?
Cloud Recording VAS is available as an add-on subscription for StarHub TV+ at $10.19/month.
What is the recording capacity for Cloud Recording VAS?
Cloud Recording VAS comes with 50 hours of recording capacity regardless of the video resolution of the content (Standard Definition, High Definition or 4K Ultra High Definition).
Can I increase my recording capacity for Cloud Recording VAS?
An increase in recording capacity is not available currently.
With StarHub TV+ comes a time-shift function, allowing you to watch LIVE programmes broadcasted up to 24 hours prior on selected channels. This should reduce the number of hours of programmes you need to record.
What devices are supported for Cloud Recording VAS?
Currently, the supported devices for Cloud Recording VAS are:
- StarHub TV+ Box
- StarHub TV+ Pro
- StarHub TV+ Smart TV App (Android TV)
- StarHub TV+ Web
StarHub TV+ Mobile Apps will be supported in future updates.
What channel(s) can I record using Cloud Recording VAS?
You can refer to the list of channels available for Cloud Recording here.
Do note that Mediacorp free-to-air channels are not available on Cloud Recording due to copyright restrictions.
How do I subscribe to Cloud Recording VAS?
Existing StarHub TV+ subscribers can subscribe to Cloud Recording VAS via the StarHub App or via their set-top boxes by going to the Store page. You will receive an SMS once the service is activated. On average, the service should be available in under 20 minutes.
I have multiple StarHub TV+ subscriptions. Do I need to subscribe to more than one Cloud Recording VAS?
Yes, you will need to subscribe to the Cloud Recording VAS for the StarHub TV+ subscription which you would like to record programmes from.
I am an existing Fibre TV customer. Can I subscribe to Cloud Recording VAS?
You can upgrade to StarHub TV+ to enjoy Cloud Recording features. Check out our promotions here.
Can I transfer my recordings on Fibre TV over to StarHub TV+?
Unfortunately, you will not be able to transfer your recordings from Fibre TV when you upgrade to StarHub TV+ due to content protection.
How long can I keep my recordings?
Your recorded programmes will remain accessible to you as long as you maintain an active monthly subscription to Cloud Recording VAS and the relevant channel subscription to the StarHub TV+ Pass or Add-On.
In the event that a channel is removed from our line-up, the recording(s) made from that channel will no longer be accessible.
How do I unsubscribe Cloud Recording?
You may unsubscribe at any time via the StarHub App. Do note your recordings in the cloud will be deleted once your Cloud Recording VAS is no longer active.
Usage
How do I record a programme?
To record a current (ongoing) programme:
- Go to the Live TV channel and press OK using your remote control.
- Select “Record” and press OK to confirm.
If the programme you wish to record is already ongoing, the Cloud Recording feature will still be able to record from the start of the programme.
To schedule a recording for a future programme:
- Go to the TV Guide and select the programme you would like to record.
- Press OK to go to the Programme Info screen.
- Select “Record” and press OK to confirm.
Do I need to keep my StarHub TV+ set-top box powered on while recording?
No, you do not need to keep your set-top box powered on if the recording has already been scheduled.
How many programmes can I record at the same time?
You can record as many programmes as you like at the same time, as long as there is sufficient recording capacity available.
Can I continue to watch other channels or programmes while the recording is ongoing?
Yes, you can continue to watch your favourite programmes while the recording takes place in the background.
If the programme which I am recording overruns, will it be recorded?
The Cloud Recording feature is designed to record an additional minute after the programme end time by default.
I have scheduled a recording for a future event, will the recording be affected if there are changes to the programme schedule?
Your recording will not be affected as the Cloud Recording feature follows the programme schedule even when there are changes.
Can I record a Time-Shift programme or Video on Demand?
No, you will not be able to record Time-Shift programmes or Video on Demand content.
How do I access a recording?
To access your recordings, select “My Recordings” on the main menu at the top of the screen.
I have set up Parental Controls for my StarHub TV+ subscription. Will the recordings be restricted according to my settings?
You will be able to record programmes regardless of your Parental Control settings. The Parental Control restrictions apply when you wish to watch the recording, prompting you to enter your Parental PIN.
Can I access my recordings when I’m overseas?
No, you will not be able to watch any recordings if you are overseas due to copyright restrictions.
Can I watch a recording if I am no longer subscribed to the channel?
If you unsubscribe from the corresponding StarHub TV+ subscription, you will not be able to watch any of the recordings you have made for the affected channel(s).
Can I watch a recording if the channel is no longer available on StarHub TV+?
If a channel is no longer available on StarHub TV+, the recording(s) made from that channel will no longer be accessible due to copyright restrictions.
How can I check my remaining recording capacity?
On the home page, you can view the recorded programme and the remaining hours by selecting "My Recordings."
To check your remaining recording capacity, select “My Recordings” on the main menu at the top of the screen. You will be able to see the amount of time scheduled, recorded and remaining.
Will I be notified if my recording capacity is almost fully utilized?
You will be notified on-screen when the remaining recording capacity is less than 5% (2.5 hours).
You will also be notified on-screen if you attempt to schedule a recording when the remaining recording capacity is insufficient.
Can I mark a recording as a favourite recording for quick access?
To mark a favourite recording, go to the recorded programme info screen, select “Add to favourite recordings” and press OK to confirm. Thereafter, the recorded programme will appear under the “Favourite Recordings” rail within “My Recordings”.
How do I manage a recording?
To manage a recording, navigate to the recorded programme’s info screen to view your available options.
To delete a recording, select “Delete Recording” and press OK to confirm. Do note that your deleted recordings cannot be recovered.
Can I recover a recording if I have accidentally deleted it?
Unfortunately, deleted recordings cannot be recovered.
Will my recordings be safe if I recently exchanged a faulty set-top box?
Yes, your recordings will remain intact (as they are stored in the cloud) even after you have exchanged the faulty set-top box.
Will my recordings be affected if I recently updated my Hub iD email address?
As your recordings are stored in the cloud, they will remain intact even after you have updated your Hub iD email address.
What will happen to my recordings if I unsubscribe from Cloud Recording VAS?
Unfortunately, you will lose access to your recordings once you unsubscribe from Cloud Recording VAS.
What will happen to my recordings if my StarHub TV+ service is suspended?
You Unfortunately, you will lose access to your recordings when your StarHub TV+ service is suspended.
Can I recover my recordings if my StarHub TV+ service is re-activated from suspension?
Unfortunately, your recordings will be deleted when your StarHub TV+ service is suspended. As such, they cannot be recovered after your StarHub TV+ service is re-activated.
What will happen to my recordings if I terminate my StarHub TV+ service?
Unfortunately, you will lose access to your recordings when your StarHub TV+ service is suspended.
Can I recover my recordings if my StarHub TV+ service is re-activated from suspension?
Your recordings will be deleted when you terminate your StarHub TV+ service.
Unfortunately, your recordings will be deleted, and they cannot be recovered after your StarHub TV+ service is re-activated.
What will happen to my recordings if I terminate my StarHub TV+ service?
Your recordings will be deleted when you terminate your StarHub TV+ service.
What will happen to my recordings if I do a Transfer of Ownership for my StarHub TV+ service?
Your recordings will be transferred to the new owner of your StarHub TV+ service. To protect your privacy, we recommend that you delete all your recordings before you initiate a Transfer of Ownership of your StarHub TV+ service.
